How to Get On Sooke.live

Program pitch

Your program pitch should include:

  • A brief statement (max 500 words) describing the type of program you would like to do, how it reflects Sooke life and why you think it’s important.
  • Describe what an episode might include, e.g. a sample playlist, interviews, taped content, a program outline and the episode intro. (If you need help with this, we can support your brainstorming!)

You can provide a sample audio file but this isn’t required. You will receive the training and mentoring you need to do your program.

Time Commitment

Would you like to produce a weekly program, bi-weekly or monthly? Are there any constraints on the time you can commit? Is there a period of time during the year when you are usually away, e.g. over Christmas or in the summer?

Approval process

Your pitch is submitted to the programming committee who will evaluate it on with the following criteria:

  • Reflect Sooke and Juan de Fuca region
  • Provides perspective from a community that is under-represented in the media
  • How it will fit into the schedule

Once your pitch is accepted you will receive Sooke Radio training (mandatory before starting):

  • Legal and ethical guidelines for broadcasting
  • How to record and upload your program for streaming
